Capturing Video?

Hi guys.  Have a question for the technologically superior:

I have a DV Video Camera.  Typically, I hook it up via USB2 and capture the video in Windows Movie Maker, then edit and make a DVD for posterity....

I got back from vacation the other day and was going to do the same, and the process starts out fine...then about five minutes into the process, the captured video becomes stuttered.  Never had that problem before.  I tried capturing the video with ULEAD VideoStudio, and it captured fine...but with no sound.

I rebooted and tried WMM again, but had the same problem.

Any ideas on how I can fix it?

did you try capturing in smaller sizes?  maybe do multiple 1 minute captures instead of longer ones like 5+ minutes.

Hmmm.  Guess I could try that.  It splits them into component clips anyway.  Thing is...I never had a problem with it before, and I like to hold onto the raw video in one chunk.  Can't figure out what changed between the last time I did video stuff and now.  Pain in the ass, though.  Wasted my last day of vacation trying to get it to work.
