It's not a disgusting way to advance, it's exactly the way most teams advance. And in fact they deserved better since they utterly dominated a very talented Portugal team. A win, a draw and a one-goal loss will usually end up moving a team through to the second round in the world cup. The only reason you think its disgusting is because of the order those results came in. A 1-0 loss to Germany is nothing to hang your head about. That is a very very good team. Along with Brazil they're probably the favorites to win.

either way they got out of group play which is pretty damn good considering who was in the group.

i haven't looked but do we know who the US plays next ?
