Rome

I didn't give anything away.  Seriously.

QB Eagles

Carrie Fisher wasn't deathly ill. She was a 60 year old drug addict doing mountains of cocaine, heroin, and pills. 45 years of that shtein doesn't leave you looking very robust.

Yeah you did

It was better than TFA. Movie was going smooth then it would hit a speed bump and get really lame. I hated the ending. A scene that happened earlier really took me off guard. Saw it coming during the scene but didn't think they'd go that direction in the grand scheme of things. Always thought SW was great on its on without gotcha moments. I hate that they've taken the force and rewrote the rules.

Way too many 'why the hell would they do that?' plot holes.

Edit: score was fantastic and I love that they cut down on the CGI. Settings were incredible.

Rome

I guess I enjoyed it more than you did.  There was a couple of oh good god moments but way fewer than in TFA.   I wasn't crazy about how the handled Finn & Rey, though.  Without saying why I think they missed the boat there.  I can't really think of anything I hated.  I'll see it a couple more times before I really dig into analyzing it.  I did enjoy it and I didn't hate the ending either.

Finn's character is pointless. They wanted a lead black character and possible love interest with Rey. The two bigggest questions I had going in were essentially tossed aside.

Without giving anything away things I hated:
Leah Mary Poopins
Snoke
Captain Phasma
Rey...character is fine but...
Every scene with Finn and Rose
Casino
Lame jokes
It reminded me of LOTR ROTK...it has like 10 different endings and drags on
I understand having women in power but there's way too many for any film. Balance motherfargers.

The porg things were whatever. Didn't find them annoying.

Adam Driver puts on one hell of a performance. Poe's character is great. They essentially took Wedge's character from the OT and gave him depth. Thought the Rey/Luke/island scenes were good. Philosophicaly I was digging it. Of course they farg all that up with the ending.

I just checked RT...audience score is 56%...ouch

ice grillin you

The cinematography and score made it worth seeing in the theater. It really misses the mark, especially for SW junkies.

Yes. I thought it was going to end about a half hour earlier than it actually did, then I remembered scenes from the trailer that weren't in the film yet so I knew there was more to come. The more I think about the ending the more I hate the film. There's no questions I have or cliffhangers making me anticipate a third film.

Rome

I should have known you'd hate it with so many powerful women featured.  Lol.

I should have known you'd hate it with so many powerful women featured.  Lol.

The resistance:
The lead character and Jedi Rey
General Leah
Admiral Holder
Pretty much every pilot including the bomber
The engineer girl Rose - god what an awful character

Men:
Poe
Finn who really isn't powerful

That's not balance

In the grand scheme of the movie it's a subtle complaint compared to the rest of the shtein show

Rome

Meh.  Rey is smoking hot.  I'd force her.

Completely forgot CF had spoiler tags, so here goes:

[spoiler]Snoke's character, they build up intrigue and questions about his character, what is his background etc... the throne room stuff was getting good....then they kill him off? He can mind melt Rey and Kylo and toss them around the room as he please but can't sense a lightsaber 2 inches from him that's about to kill him? Lame. Can you imagine if they killed the Emperor that way in the OT? No you can't, because that would have been stupid.

Rey's parents. Drunks who sold her off...really? That's what we get. How exactly does that tie into the Skywalker storyline which is what this story is and has always been about. There was so much potential with that back story and they crap on it. I thought Luke finding out she was Palpatine's blood line and dropping her off somewhere remote would have been a cool storyline. But apparently the fans don't get that, they get some random person who has no tie ins to the core of the story.

Luke - they completely crap all over his character. They took him from a naive farmboy who grew into himself into a cocky, bitter hermit. Luke was never the sly remarks character, but now we have him brushing dirt off his shoulder and making wannabe witty remarks. I was onboard with his story, the Jedi temple stuff, Kylo turning on him...sure, fits with the characters story arc, but SW spends 3 movies on him trying to save his father who was a mass murderer and he never met for a day to wanting to kill his own nephew because he showed signs of going to the darkside and he saw darkness in his future. Makes no sense whatsoever that he would try to save his Father but want to kill his nephew and apprentice. The island and philosophical stuff was pretty cool, but then they crap all over that with the ending.

Yoda- now force ghosts can shoot lighting down from the sky? Ben Kenobi as a force ghost - "if you chose to fight Vader you're on your own, I cannot help you". The Yoda ghost didn't look right, his face was weird and the ghost looked more like a hologram. They should have stuck with OT ghost which actually looked like a ghost.

Finn - a former stormtrooper sanitation worker is now a fierce warrior who can go blow for blow with the most powerful stormtrooper in the galaxy. Horrible character. I get they wanted a potential love interest for Rey but they really missed the mark. I was really hoping they'd kill him off when he was heading towards the battering ram.

Rose - I'm mad that I didn't use the bathroom while she was on screen. What a god awful character. Every scene with her and Finn was boring. At least her sister who died as a bomber was hot.

Captain Phasma - another potential great character who at the end had no point other than to have an antagonist for Finn. Every time I'm at Disney Hollywood studios - they have this march with her and the first order - so I assumed since they spotlighted her so much she'd have a bigger role.

BB8 - was onboard with a new droid, but they've turned him into R2 from the prequels only worse. Now he can use AT ATs, tie up 3 guards, and shoot casino chips. RN, 3po, BB8, are astromech and protocol droids, not warriors or assassin droids.

R2 - they finally bring him back to life and he has little to no role in the film.

Mary Poppins Leah - Ugh...I thought they gave Leah a fitting death, then they do that. They kept her alive for what reason? We know she's dead.

Ben/Kylo - I can't believe I'm saying this because I hated his character in TFA but he was the one bright spot in the movie. Adam Driver put on a hell of a performance. His motivation for going full fledge darkside and love for his grandfather was explained well. The conflict in him was genuine. Of course the story screws up his character by killing off snoke and throwing him into the role as supreme leader.

And why does Rey give a crap about saving him? He's a nobody to her. The movie emphasizes there's always going to be balance between the light and the dark as far as force users goes, so there's always going to be another evil force user. There's rumors of a possible Reylo, please god no. There's 3 options with his character: Rey kills him, he turns to the light, or they hook up. That's really the only burning question remaining.

The resistance - there's 100 or so left and no one came from the outer rim to assist them. Unless there's a time jump there's no way they can amass an army and armada to take down the FO. No idea how they're going to explain that in the story.

Benicio Del Toro's character - completely dumb. The stutter was horrible.

The Casino - wow...maybe the least SW setting and scene in the entire universe. Previously the diner scene with Kenobi and the fry cook with 6 arms held that honor.

Why are they trying so hard to get away from the Jedi and the Sith? That's the core of SW. I really don't understand the rationale behind it.

Why are they re-writing the powers of the force? They're also making a grand spectacle every time someone uses the force.

Way too many women in power on the 'Resistance'. Rey, General Leah, Admiral Holder, pretty much ever pilot. On the flipside there's Poe. Luke doesn't count.  Balance motherFers.

The ending - horrible...just horrible. If Luke was going to die as a distraction why not just have his character show up and face Kylo? Would have been more fitting instead of going for the 'gotcha' moment. I get he was the Ben Kenobi ANH role of killing himself so they could get away but they really butchered that ordeal.

What is there to really look forward to in the 3rd film? Rey, some random person who's powerful with the force and has zero ties to the Skywalker storyline, and Kylo Ren. There's no burning questions, issues to speculate, or cliffhangers. The writers wrote themselves into a corner.

They need to ditch Kathleen Kennedy. It's obvious fans don't like the film, all I've seen is negative feedback. RT has the audience score at 56%...ouch.

The part I don't get is they nailed Rogue One...so they know how to make a good SW film.

The good: The cinematography and score were excellent. I saw it in 3D IMAX.
