Title: WIP online
Post by: BigEd76 on June 20, 2005, 03:14:22 PM
Supposedly this link (http://tuner1.dc1.sonixtream.com/playlists/610wip/610wipWIPAM.asx) is working, but I can't stream audio at work.  Can someone else confirm?  If it isn't working, it should be up and running on 610wip.com tomorrow morning...

Barf.

Its working. I had to hear 3 seconds of Eskin to test it out.  :boom

That's GOTTA be better than listening to Eskin.

It's actually not a bad musical piece. Reminds me of Dracula's castle or something.

Just being up here over the last few days, I had to test it out (hadn't really listened to WIP since Jody Mac was still there).

Angelo and the rest of the Stooges is still unlistenable.
Howard Eskin is the best commentator in the business.  Just ask him!  :D
Ray Didinger is actually pretty good.

:-D at the people who wanted to trade Thome for Tom Glavine.

Now I'm interested. I'd tune in to see if I could hear the organ, but it's not worth risking potentially hearing WIP.

someone mentioned it's ozzy being played, of course in the office i can't stream anything, so it's can't be confirmed by me.

I tuned in just to check it out.  they play about 20 seconds of "Mr. Crowley" (Ozzy) during the commercials apparently.  It was really annoying because they play those 20 seconds on a loop.

Then it cuts to your boy Eskin.  Wow.  He's pretty amazing.  That is if by amazing you mean a slow and droning pile of nothingness.  I'd rather listen to the loop of Ozzy.

Nah, they just bidded on the Phils. The Phils threw 'em a bone and let them have Friday games.

I'm glad 1210 has them back though. 950 was BRUTAL.

One more cry for help out here in the Pacific - I guess I'll be missing the morning crew 11:30 PM - 4:00 AM Hawaii time.  Are they any good?  I will be able to catch Eskin.  I've heard all about him.  What about Gargano?  How is Gary Cobb?  Sorry for all the questions.  I am so psyched to finally listen to WIP.  Listening right now - yes, that's how I am spending my Friday night.

Yeah, Macnow was the host.

I can't bring myself to listen to this station now with Cataldi in the morning, followed by Missanelli, followed (normally) by Eskin. But when I got in the car and heard Macnow, I listened.

I'll probably start listening once it gets a bit closer to football season.   It's all Phillies talk right now, which doesn't particularly interest me.
Title: Re: WIP online
Post by: PhillyGirl on July 05, 2005, 04:48:08 PM
I was arguing about this exact topic:

http://www.concretefield.com/forum/index.php?topic=15155.msg273357;topicseen#msg273357

Macnow thinks they should change the logo, mascot, etc.. to change the city's attitude towards the team, and the team's attitude in general...and I said, "You know what? Put a winning team on the field and those shirts will be selling like hotcakes. Put a winning team on the field and the city will fall in love with them all over again. Put a winning team on the field who has the "MUST WIN" attitude and the fans will go to the games, care about the team and pull for them....but no one gives a rat's behind what the logo looks like."

but i am just completely convinced that this town takes sports way too seriously, and on top of that the negadelphian will never die...people will always find something to bitch about.

if you seriously think about this. abreu wins a completely meaningless little game and people are complaining?

Some of these guys (fans) would rather continue to lose so they have something to piss and whine about. I am 100% convinced about that.

They don't want to win. They want to bitch, bitch, bitch.

Now callers are pissed because Bobby didn't once acknowledge the city or the Phillis fans.  My mother should call in as she said the same thing after he won.  She was so preplexed why he didn't mention the Phillies.  I asked my mom "Would you?"  That shut her up.

I never understood why he makes people so angry. I don't think a WIP host has ever made me angry. They annoy me and bore me more than anything. Then I usually turn it off. Sometimes when people call Howard and scream and him and he cuts them off, I picture them grabbing their radio and slamming it on the floor. People really do get that mad at him.

ok...so this week this station is replaying old games at night, calling it the "City of Champions" week where they played the last championship broadcast of each team in the city. which led to the first time i purposely tuned in to hear something, last night they played the radio broadcast of the 1980 NFC Championship game vs the cowboys.

does anyone else now see 2 glaring oddities on playing the 1980 NFCC Game? while i enjoyed it...these just occured to me

1) it's not the last eagles championship, 1960 was, as we all know they lost the superbowl in 80/81. now i can see them maybe not even having the radio broadcast of the 1960 game. BUT

2) it wasnt even the last NFCC Game the eagles won!?

Agreed.  They defended it by claiming this was a team that was just absolutly pathetic for most of the 70's.  Very bad times for the birds before Vermeil got there.  I remember 1972 very well 2-11-1.  :'(They made it to the NFCCG in Vermeils 5th year and the fact it was the Cowboys.

The birds should have won by 30 points.  They blew a ton of opportunities.  My god did they just destroy the Cowboys that day.  Beautiful.

I'm listening to whoever's on right now (2 guys whom i can't differentiate the voices) to get any sort of updates regarding McDougle.  I'm trying to figure out which is the most insane:

1. the callers who think the FO should give in to TO's demands because there's no way the Eagles have a shot at the  SB without him.

2. the callers who think McNabb is the worst quarterback in the history of the NFL.
