Don Ho

sorry to catch up so late on this subject.

Obama, or Barry as we called him, went to my high school, Punahou in Honolulu (as does Michelle Wei, as did Mosi Tatupu, the late Mark Tuinei of the Cowboys and Steve Case of AOL fame oh and my good pal Rick Goldstein, oh and Marc Matsubara and oh foget it,).  Obama who was two classes ahead of me was very quite in high schoool, played on a state championship basketball team, just a mellow dude.  I was shocked to later find out that he became editor of the Harvard Law Review.  Rest is history.  He is actually in Hawaii over the holidays to ponder his political future.  I'd like to see him serve some more time as a senator.
"Well where does Jack Lord live, or Don Ho?  That's got to be a nice neighborhood"  Jack Singer(Nicholas Cage) in Honeymoon in Vegas.

I dont think he's ready for the big stage, not seasoned enough but then again look at who's in office now.

Bush was plenty seasoned...most US presidents come from Govenor backgrounds.  You may not like his politics or policies but he was plenty experienced.

Obama isn't seasoned enough to be President, but a VP slot would be perfect for him.  He is the future leader of the Democratic party, and is one of the best public speakers in politics.  I don't think the Dems can wait until 2012 to unleash this guy.

Just FYI - 20th Century VPs to be President:

Theodore Roosevelt (upon McKinley's assassination)
Calvin Coolidge (upon Harding's death)
Harry Truman (upon FDR's death)
Lyndon Johnson (upon Kennedy's assassination)
Richard Nixon (elected)
George H.W. Bush (elected)

OK.  Barring assassination, Obama would be seasoned for 4 to 8 years as VP before he becomes President.

I think Obama would be the more likely target as a VP or as a President.  There are still too many hillbilly rednecks wanting to fight the Civil War again.

Ah yes, forgot Ford.

Ford was appointed vice-president by Nixon following the resignation of Spiro Agnew (due to bribery charges) in October of 1973, then became Preisdent the following August when Nixon himself resigned.
