Regular season starts October 14th against LA. Only downside is the game starts at 1030. Excited to see Prov and Konechny and the continued development of Ghost. Last year was pretty blah but the push towards the postseason was fun.
well at least its a Friday night. really pumped for this season. looking forward to seeing konechny playing on the 2nd line with jake from voracek and seany boy. at least that's where I heard he is playing.
Jake was pretty bad last season and the contract they gave him was awful, but he looked great in the preseason. Most preseason sports you can take with a grain of salt because players are half assing it and the coaches put in vanilla schemes but hockey's the one sport where it's a pretty good indicator of the upcoming season. It's why dipshteins like Gudas and Steve Downie check like it's game 7 of the playoffs.
time to go reserve some flyers and sixers games in the company suite.

He struggled, but did not look like a minor leaguer. And yes, the $27M is the going rate for young talented defensemen these days. If he pans out to even a second pairing, the Flyers have control until he's 30 for $4.5M per year, and it's a damn good deal.

Moreover, GM Ray Shero has been following Makar around to get a closer look during the final weeks of his season. It's possible if Makar is the Devils' guy, this is a trade-down scenario for them.
If the Devils stay at No. 1 and Makar is the selection, it would be a ground-breaking moment in the draft. Makar would be the first top overall pick from Canadian Jr. A since Barry Gibbs in 1966, and the first top selection outside top tier junior/NCAA/pro hockey since Brian Lawton in 1983.

Not a huge fan of the trade. Schenn's only 25. They got a late first in a weak draft and a conditional first in another draft. Plus they took on a zesty contract of an underperforming player who's 29. Little baffled by this deal to be honest.
That's a WTF trade to me.
I'm not crazy about the trade but I think I get it.
Schenn is basically useless at even strength and he was occupying the roster and position spot that they have slotted for Patrick. Two first rounders for a player that you have moved on from doesn't strike me as terrible value even if you have to take on a junk player in the process.
Schenn is a winger (which they're short on) and Patrick is a center. Which makes the move even that much more baffling. Hextall said they weren't looking to move Schenn but got an offer they didn't think they could pass up. They took on a crap contract too.

Frost was the 31st ranked player in the NHL Central Scouting Service list of prospects. Not a huge stretch at that point by any means. After getting Provorov, Ghost, etc. I'll defer to their scouting team on that one.
As for Schenn, he's a center. They cut two years of Schenn's back end salary, picked up two #1's and a MARGINALLY useful bum they'll pay for two seasons while Patrick acclimates himself to the NHL.
I'm not crazy about losing Schenn either but I get it too.

They traded their 2nd, a 3rd, and a 4th to move up 9 spots in the 2nd to take 6'6 winger Isaac Ratcliffe. Pretty sure they have an extra 3rd and I know they had a ton of 4ths. A few sites had him as a late 1st. He's only 200 lbs so he obviously needs to pack on some weight.
