Post by: SunMo on October 08, 2013, 08:51:23 AM
for anybody who hasn't signed up, use this link

https://www.fanduel.com/?invitedby=sunmo&cnl=da

there are different bonus codes online that get you extra money when you deposit.

anyway, this is fun to play each week.  post if you are in and someone will start a contest for Week 6

i'm in but imo the better way to do it moving forward is top 3 finishers get money.
Title: Re: Fanduel Thread
Post by: reese125 on October 08, 2013, 10:15:31 AM
maybe in a large tourney

but its a 6 man'er. is this really appealing to you for 1st place----1st: $26.00, 2nd: $17.00, 3rd: $11.00

If we get more than maybe 10 players, I'd be fine with this.  But as it stands right now, splitting $54 three ways is no bueno.
Title: Re: Fanduel Thread
Post by: SunMo on October 08, 2013, 10:17:30 AM
you don't split it equally.

$30 - 1st place
$14 - 2nd place
$10 - 3rd place

Title: Re: Fanduel Thread
Post by: Sgt PSN on October 08, 2013, 10:19:33 AM
Just a suggestion, but what does everyone think about doing one (1) $25 tourney a month and $10 tourneys the other weeks?
Title: Re: Fanduel Thread
Post by: reese125 on October 08, 2013, 10:19:56 AM
you cant make up the winnings mo. its automatically set
Title: Re: Fanduel Thread
Post by: SunMo on October 08, 2013, 10:21:48 AM
i see, no problem.

i've only been doing it for 2 weeks and i've been playing 7-8 man games with a $5 buy in and 3 money winners so it's what i'm used to.

should be fun
Title: Re: Fanduel Thread
Post by: Munson on October 08, 2013, 10:24:05 AM
I agree with sunny on the split, but since fan duel doesn't let you choose who gets what...that kind of sucks

I like your idea on the once a month $25er, Reese

I'm fine with $25, too, I just doubt I'd play every week.....unless I win on a somewhat regular basis and can keep playing with my winnings instead of coming out of pocket every week.
Title: Re: Fanduel Thread
Post by: reese125 on October 08, 2013, 10:34:39 AM
go play some $5 tourneys or head to heads and increase your odds.

matter of fact the best odds are to play against a random person or a 3 header for $25/$50/$100--whatever amount

A. It's gambling.

Title: Re: Fanduel Thread

^^^^lol, more or less.

It's basically one week fantasy football. You get a salary of 60K, and each player is assigned a salary each week, you gotta fill out your team without going over the 60K limit.

Bet on it, win or lose money.

And again.....I sit and wait and hope reese's player lays an egg.

Just about my entire lineup in the $1 league I joined were fantasy busts this week and gave me 108.88 total points, which is good enough for 1161 out of 3351.  So at least I finished in the top half I guess.

R. Wilson
A. Foster
K. Moreno
T. Smith
P. Garcon
A. Brown
B. Celek
N. Folk
Saints D

Winner scored 186.04:

N. Foles
L. McCoy
K. Moreno
D. Jackson
V. Jackson
D. Moore
J. Finley
A. Henery
Chiefs D

7 people this week.

$10 entry
1st place $41
2nd place $22

if anyone else other than the people in last week want in let me know and I will resend link. Lets get to 10 people and up the entry fee so we can earn more because these winnings are scraps

If everyone is in from last week Im going to make it 8 now since SD's boy wants in. Problem is it brings down the winnings with 8, unless we do a winner takes all or up the ante.

With 8 people, $10 entry top 3 get cash

$36
$22
$14

We go to $25
$90
$55
$35

Let me know

Title: Re: Fanduel Thread
Post by: Munson on October 17, 2013, 01:18:09 PM
does fanduel automatically make it so you have to pay top 3 with 8? And are 10 and 25 the only buy ins with no 15 or 20 in between? That seems like stuff they'd be wise to ease up on...
Title: Re: Fanduel Thread
Post by: reese125 on October 17, 2013, 01:21:20 PM
automatically. you cant change it. $5, $10, $25, $50...and so on

the options for winnings are winner takes all, top 3, or top 1/3rd
Title: Re: Fanduel Thread
Post by: Munson on October 17, 2013, 01:24:33 PM
There is definitely a lot of room for improvement in their business model then. At first glance I thought it operated like online poker rooms, but it definitely has a lot more restrictions on it.

I say we still stick with Sarge's plan...do a $25er once a month, $10 the other weeks.

Such an inconvenience to keep sending new links when we change the number of participants, but just so you guys know why it is the way it is and how they make Fanduel legal:

SamanthaAtFanduel: Yes. The size of a league cannot be edited once it is created
→are you guys working on that because thats a major inconvenience?
SamanthaAtFanduel: No. Part of what makes Daily Fantasy Sports legal is this stipulation, "All prizes and awards offered to winning participants are established and made known to the participants in advance of the game or contest and their value is not determined by the number of participants or the amount of any fees paid by participants."
SamanthaAtFanduel: This means that once the contest is set, the prize amounts cannot be altered based on the number of participants and vice versa.
SamanthaAtFanduel: Hence why you are unable to edit a league once it has been created.
→so pretty much just set the number of participants and hope for the best?
SamanthaAtFanduel: It is best to know the number of participants you are looking to have enter a contest you've created
→i see--wish it was different though
SamanthaAtFanduel: Certainly understandable. Just trying to remain within the guidelines that make this legal and considered a game of skill
→gotcha--thanks

Your team looks pretty solid to me.

I almost took Hilton and Riley Cooper but opted for Randle and Jefferey. I was tempted to take Blackmon but he has groin and hamstring problems. One bad cut and he's done for the game.

I just looked at my team this week for the first time since I put it together....out of all the other teams i put together, I think the one for this league is the worst one. Definitely should have built a little smarter with this one

Your team looks pretty solid to me.

I almost took Hilton and Riley Cooper but opted for Randle and Jefferey. I was tempted to take Blackmon but he has groin and hamstring problems. One bad cut and he's done for the game.

Yeah it's an okay team, I think I just did much better with some of the other teams I put together this week. This is the one team I have in a $5 league...

Cutler
Peterson
Charles
Welker
Cruz
K. Allen
Gronk
Prater
Kansas City

Really happy with that one, hopefully it can win me some cash this week. Keenan Allen at $4500 frees up a ton of cash to spend elsewhere.

I had to splurge on Witten, the Eagles can't cover TEs for shtein. He always burns us, should be a good point getter. My luck they'll somehow shut him down.

I play my former work buddy (he was fired) in fantasy today, we did a $50 side bet. He has Romo and Terrance Williams. I'd shtein bricks if they some how kept their offense in check. There is some reason for optimism, the Cowboys with Romo as QB only average 179 yards passing against the Eagles. I doubt they keep him under 300

I've done a few $1 leagues so far with like $350 prizes for 1st and like $3.00 payouts if you finish like 300th.  My best finish was 600something out of 3300+ people.  Desean Jackson farged me out of a few bucks this weekend.

Put 5 different lineups together for $1 games, each score was 115 or above. Missed winning $5 by 16 people. The lowest one I entered was the CF fanduel.

So I threw 10 bucks into my account last week, which gave me a spot in the depositor freeroll this week. Finishing in the top 10 gets you a spot in the 10 dollar "sunday kickoff" tourny next week. I'm currently in first place, first time I've ever been in 1st place in a large tourny. Pretty cool, even though I know it won't hold. Hopefulyl I can get enough points from Antonio Gates to keep me in the top 10 and snag one of these spots.

lol nice.

After taking a couple weeks to get it down, I've been able to put together at least one or two teams that have cashed for me the last few weeks. But I usually play 5 or 6 games, so I'm mostly breaking even or winning/losing a couple bucks. Last week I had two teams cash, and one of the teams was a regular Andre Johnson performance away from being some decent cash. farging Case Keenum.

Only playing 4 teams this week.

Cam Newton
Eddie Lacy
Matt Forte
Calvin Johnson
Riley Cooper
Andre Johnson
Delanie Walker
Mason Crosby

I decided to do a one time $75 deposit this season. $50 for various cheap tournys and/or 50/50s, and $25 for the million dollar thing they have going on this week (every week? can't remember if they had a $25 buy in, million dollar prize pool every week last year or not)

Here's what I've got for that one..

Colin Kaep @ DAL
Shady
Andre Ellington vs. SD
Demaryius Thomas v IND
Marques Colston @ ATL
Michael Crabtree @ DAL
Ertz
Nugent  @ BAL
Philly D

I'm contemplating whether or not I wanna change up the KAep/Crabtree combo. Kaep gives me the chance at a rushing TD, but he looked awful in the preseason games. Dallas' D is going to be bad, but still nervous...Definitely want to pair up my QB with one of my WR's though. Should I change up what combo I go with? more expensive combos out there...

I still have a little more than 100 bucks that I won from our private :CF league last year. I played a few $1 and $5 leagues and came close a couple times to winning some money, but never could quite get over the hump. I'll keep trying this year until the well runs dry, then I'm out.

I still have a little more than 100 bucks that I won from our private :CF league last year. I played a few $1 and $5 leagues and came close a couple times to winning some money, but never could quite get over the hump. I'll keep trying this year until the well runs dry, then I'm out.

Looking over my history, I had two $20 and a $14 and $12 last in during the football season. And a few lower single digit ones here and there. What sucks is I remember one of them I was in the top 5 or so and in line for over $100 before one of the late games knocked me down into the teens or 20s.

I think it was reese who set up the head to head for cf last year. If anyone wants to set  one up...count me in.

I like doing the $1 games, if you do well great, if not you're only out a buck. My one problem with one week bets is you can have a great lineup that's producing, then someone like Decker or Marvin freaking Jones goes off and your lineup is irrelevant.

I entered the $100000 league. Max payout is $10000. $10 entry.

Won $30 on this.

Won $150 on a $1 entry $30000 league. Finished 9th out of 34479. 9 more points and I would of won $2500. Here was my lineup

Stafford
Demarco Murray
Fred Jackson
Calvin Johnson
AJ Green
Kelvin Benjamin
Ertz
Zeurlien
Houston D

3 other $1 games I won $3 and $2.50.

I dropped $75 in there before week 1, giving myself $25 to take a crack at the million dollar jaun they had in week one, and planning on using the other $50 throughout the season on $1 and $2 dollar games. Did a $5 50/50 this week though, they seem to be the easiest way to maintain/build your bank. Hopefully it doesn't come back to bite me.

last week i did a $5 and won $9.  This week i did a $10 game and will win $18.  Not crazy money or anything but a W is a W

Did decent this week, I made out on the $1 games. Bunch of $10, $5, $3, and $2.50 wins. I played one for $25 and got burnt by Locker/Hunter, and Moreno getting injured. Rest of my lineup (Nelson, D Thomas, Foster, Ertz going tonight) didn't do bad. Just re-affirmed what I already know, go with your gut and not with what the experts say.

Won another $20 fanduel 50/50 game this weekend.  I may have to try and step up to a bigger pot.  I'm undefeated on 50/50's this year and every game i've had Jeremy Maclin, he's been a steal in the low $6k range so far, that number will probably be going up soon.

Don't have the money to do the weekly stuff like we did last year a few times, but next year I should be set up with an actual salaried job and will be IN.

This year the $50 I put in is lasting me the whole year..or until I lose it all.

Phreak, I had some money left over from last football season and tried baseball a few times and it was just hopeless. It all involves luck but I feel baseball more than anything was just pure luck.

Yeah he's been a real nice buy low. Unfortunately the teams i had him on this week all sucked. One of them is the team that has a shot at winning a couple bucks with Harvin still to play.
Title: Re: Fanduel Thread
Post by: rjs246 on October 24, 2014, 09:20:50 AM
So. I've noticed that the teams that win the really big money on fanduel are the ones that go heavy on players from a single team that blow up. Good example was the Flacco/Smith/Smith combo from a couple of weeks ago. I'm torn between going heavy on the Packers (Rodgers, Cobb, Nelson) or Seattle (Wilson, Lynch, Baldwin). So I'm asking the crowd of four people who post here, which offense do you think is more likely to blow up this week?
Title: Re: Fanduel Thread
Post by: PhillyPhreak54 on October 24, 2014, 09:27:44 AM
Yeah stacking is the key. The week that the Flacco/Smith/Smith trio went off I thought I had a nice set up but that ruined it.

I've got about 11 teams set for this week including one in the $2.5M pool.

Green Bay's trio has to be the odds on favorite. They are just locked in.

I have a couple lineups with the Seattle guys in there but I think they're more susceptible for a bust than the others even though Carolina's defense has been trash - their last couple trips to Carolina have been underwhelming and that is when their team wasn't loaded with drama.

Title: Re: Fanduel Thread
Post by: rjs246 on October 24, 2014, 09:40:27 AM
Yeah, the threat of a dud seems much greater with Seattle. There are some rather silly value plays out there this week that have me feeling all giddy...

Title: Re: Fanduel Thread
Post by: rjs246 on October 24, 2014, 11:00:00 AM
Jonathan Stewart for $5100. The matchup sucks and he sucks, but he's the starter on a team that needs to run and $5100 is dirt farging cheap. Gives lots of flexibility for the other roster spots.
Houston D for $5100. JJ Watt going against a rookie Titans QB? Drool.

Also, if you're swinging for the fences, our old friend Bryce Brown is pretty cheap but Stewart is cheaper and guaranteed to get his touches.
Title: Re: Fanduel Thread
Post by: rjs246 on October 24, 2014, 11:13:23 AM
Also, I don't care how good the Eagles D looked and I don't care that they're coming off of a bye. Andre Ellington for $7400 is a farging steal.
Title: Re: Fanduel Thread
Post by: PhillyPhreak54 on October 24, 2014, 11:14:15 AM
Good call on Stewart - I hadn't included him in any yet. The Panthers scare me. I used Cam in a couple last week and they did bupkis.

Houston's D is on my list too. I also find value in the Jets D at $4500 because that slapdick Orton can turn it over and the Jets can get after the passer.

I have used Bryce Brown in two - I am hoping Marrone uses him and not Dixon.

I did a lineup where I used Teddy Bridgewater because of his cheap ($5400) price and TB's D is generous. So if he can get 2 TDs and maybe one rushing that's a steal. That allows you to load up on RB (Foster and Forte) and WR.

I think Mike Evans has some potential at $5900 and Jordan Reed at $5200

If he can go without getting a sprained labia he should be good - especially since McCoy is playing and he'll be looking to dump off.

I've cashed for $100 in the last two Million events...and this week first place is half a farging million. I'd be happy with a top ten.

I always throw a couple lineups in with low QBs like Hoyer/Bridgewater/Orton etc. You can stack other positions and if they do well it's an added bonus.
I'm big on Reed and Ertz at TE. Both good values and Dallas and Arizona suck at defending TEs. At RB went heavy on Jerick Mckinnon, he only costs $5900 and Tampa's D is horrible.

I've only got one team built so far this week, taking it easy after two weeks of $0 cashes. I've found that, not so much stacking teams, but going top heavy at WR has worked well for me. Sometimes I try and pair up my QB with one of the WRs, but to me it's more important to have at least 2 guarenteed studs at WR. Unlike the RB's, it's incredibly hard to pick which cheap WR is going to go off any given week.

The one team I've put together this week has Glennon at QB, Ingram and McKinnon at RB, all pretty dirt cheap. Allowed me stack up Brown, Jordy, and Dez at WR. Only part of that I'm second guessing right now is Glennon because minny's pass d has been surprisingly stout this year, but I imagine that's a part of game flow more than anything else.

So, I've been cashing pretty regularly and have accumulated some moneys playing the smaller games. Looking at next week I see a couple of stacks available that I'm trying to decide between...

New Orleans at home with Cooks out (Brees, Graham, Stills/Colston).
Chicago at home against TB (Cutler, Jeffery, Marshall).
There's also Green Bay playing Minny, but stacking Rogers and his receivers is pretty expensive.

I'm also eyeing Richardson's stupid (but cheap) ass since Bradshaw is out and the Colts should have a cake walk against Jacksonville.

These are my thoughts. Do with them what you will.

The one that I am winning on? Thrown together at the last second.

Fitzpatrick
CJ Anderson
Arian Foster
Kenny Stills
Antonio Brown
Deandre Hopkins
Gronk
Matt Bryant

lol that's normally how it is for me too...this would be the biggest win ever. I had one lineup that had Teddy Bridgewater and Kyle Rudolph and the Vikings D and at one point I was in first place and it showed my wins at $5000....that lasted all of three minutes and I didn't cash at all. But it was nice to see for a split second lol.

SD,

Yeah I used him in the million event and two others but the rest of the combos I put in there blew chunks.

the dude who is gonna win $175k in the million event has this lineup

Fitzpatrick
Leveon Bell
Tre Mason
Kenny Stills
Demaryius
Antonio Brown

Justin Tucker

252 points...

I have Mike Wallace tonight in the two lineups that are already in the money and a heavy Dolphins stack (Tannehill, Wallace, D) for the one lineup that is not in the money yet. Go Dolphins.

Guarantee he enters a shtein ton of lineups.

Mason/Stills/Antonio Brown/Colt Mccoy were my go to guys this weekend. Mixed it up a little with Luck at QB.

If DeSean doesn't play this week, who's the cheap-ass starting WR to pick up? Garcon or Roberts?

Someone not on Washington?

But they're soooooo cheap.

And yes, your answer is the correct one.
Title: Re: Fanduel Thread
Post by: PhillyPhreak54 on December 03, 2014, 01:08:32 PM
Yugo's were cheap too...

go cheap on the defense and kicker and spend on the WR

I used Roberts earlier in the year. The only offensive person I would play on Washington is Reed...until he dies from a strained hamstring
Title: Re: Fanduel Thread
Post by: rjs246 on December 03, 2014, 01:20:04 PM
Morris isn't a terrible play this week, but generally yes. It's Reed and no one else from the Skins.

I'm deciding on my stacks for this week and the two I'm leaning towards are Eli/Odell and Brees/Stills. Stills is still really inexpensive for some reason and Eli is awful, but so are the Titans. Not really in love with any of the lineups I'm putting together right now. Might be another cheap week.
Title: Re: Fanduel Thread

I haven't gotten into the lists yet, will tonight, but it surprises me that Stills is cheap again.

i've actually been playing some lately since i was living in your basement and you wouldn't shut up about it.

i've been doing the nightly NBA ones...consistently winning just a few bucks here and there but for about 2 minutes the other night I was in first place with 5K next to my name and now i'm a little addicted. i ended up winning $5.

i'm in the money with lacy going tonight also.

i won $27 last night. did the primetime one which only counted the sunday night and monday night games.

with that few people to pick from, and like 15000+ players, how is there not always like 10 way ties up at the leader board. that is weird to me. i've only played a few so far but have not seen any ties.
Title: Re: Fanduel Thread
Post by: PhillyPhreak54 on December 09, 2014, 09:40:44 AM
I did one of the primetimes and banked like $50 but it pretty much comes down to which scrub you pick since all the top guys get chosen. Like taking a chance on someone like Josh Huff and having him catch a nice pass and not fumble or actually play a whole game without getting hurt

Title: Re: Fanduel Thread

Mostly just value plays. Eli is dirt cheap and he'll be playing the skins. Matt Ryan is relatively cheap too against the awful Steelers secondary. Some injury plays. Forsett against the Jags looks like a no-brainer. Gates keeps not catching touchdowns so his price keeps dropping. So, yeah, all of that.

Title: Re: Fanduel Thread
Post by: phattymatty on December 10, 2014, 10:22:16 AM
yeah its hard...theres not enough money to draft 9 starters so one of your bench guys has to get a lot of playing time either in a blow out or because of an injury. same goes for the opposite, not worth the money to get a lebron or curry against the sixers, bc chances are they'll only be playing 2-3 quarters.

it's definitely a lot of luck, you can't really predict when boris diaw or austin rivers is gonna drop a 30 and 10 game.

i've cashed like 10 times but just piddly shtein, basically you have to average like 35+ per player.

The Ivory/CJ600yds combo for the Jets...Blount could grab two TDs for the Pats...Derek Anderson for CAR...Marquess Wilson for CHI...James Starks since Eddie Lacy isn't playing...Harry Douglas...

Alright, who's everyone rolling with next week?

Considering not doubling up on a QB/WR combo, because I'd like to be able to roll with 3 stud WRs and no one's QB is affordable. Randle is only $4900 this week if Demarco doesn't play.
Title: Re: Fanduel Thread
Post by: rjs246 on December 16, 2014, 09:15:18 AM
I'm definitely putting a team together that is heavy on players from Rome's roster (Luck, Lacy, Thomas, Buffalo) to hedge against the likely defeat in fantasy. My question this week is who gets targets from Luck? TY might be hurt. Wayne has been playing through a torn triceps. Nicks barely played this week, but caught a TD while Moncrief got lots of run and was shut out...
Title: Re: Fanduel Thread
Post by: rjs246 on December 16, 2014, 09:46:37 AM
Also...

Sanchez sucks but Sanchez against the tater skins secondary is worth a look. And he's cheap cheap cheap for a dude who you assume will get at least 2 TDs.
Carolina's D against Johnny Football.
Everyone in the NO/ATL passing game.
Julius Thomas has been hurt and unused, but $6000 for an elite TE is a huge steal.

One other thought... Cleveland's pass defense is great, but their team is bad and likely to lose this weekend. Jonathan Stewart has been playing well and is only $6200. If DeMarco Murray doesn't go, you could have a decent starting RB lineup of Randle/Stewart for a really small cap hit.

Throwing darts.
Title: Re: Fanduel Thread
Post by: PhillyPhreak54 on December 16, 2014, 10:01:06 AM
Yeah I am definitely in the cheap QB camp...I used to go with an expensive QB and one of his receivers but now I will find a lesser QB and get heavier on the RB/WR's. I started that with Fitzpatrick a couple weeks ago and used Derek Anderson and Eli last weekend

Denver's passing game has sputtered but you're right about that price...I'd pay that.

Hopefully Julio Jones is back

Jimmy Clausen
Leveon Bell
Matt Asiata
Alshon Jeffery
Antonio Brown
Colston
Julius Thomas
Shayne Graham
Panthers

Roethlisberger
CJ Anderson
Jonathan Stewart
Donte Moncrief
Roddy White
Antonio Brown
Kelce
Graham
Panthers

Post by: Munson on December 21, 2014, 11:39:22 AM
I'd have a hard time rolling with him just based on price and the chance that he doesn't finish the game.

One league I've got:

Keenum
T Mason
J Gray
A Brown
Dez
Calvin
Martellus
SEA D

Basically loading up on the top, healthy WR's and hoping to get enough out of Keenum and Gray.
Title: Re: Fanduel Thread
Post by: Munson on December 21, 2014, 11:40:34 AM
Another way I could go with that lineup is repalce SEA defense with Buffalo, repalce Martellus with Kelce, and then take Gray out and put in J-Stew or Herron.
Title: Re: Fanduel Thread
Post by: SD on December 21, 2014, 11:53:06 AM
Cheaper players I went heavy on this week: at te... farg Dallas but Witten, Jordan Cameron, Donnell. Wr: colston, Harry Douglas, moncrief, Lafell, Torrey smith. At rb: Jonas grey, tre mason. At qb Clausen and I said farg it and threw Manziel in a lineup for a $1 game
Title: Re: Fanduel Thread
Post by: Munson on December 21, 2014, 11:58:32 AM
Hmmm....for the 600k league.....Should I roll with Brees/Stills, or Alex Smith/Kelce? Doing the 2nd allows me to take out Jonas Gray and put in Stewart or Herron, and also probably go with the SEA D instead of Buffalo.

Forsett has been terrible the last couple weeks. No idea why Balty stopped using him as a receiver out of the backfield.

This is what I've got for now in the 2.5 million league...

Whitehurst
J. Stewart
C.J. Anderson
Dez Bryant
Antonio Brown
D. Moncrief
Martellus Bennett
Shayne Graham
49ers D

Not feeing super confident in the D/K combo, but meh. Antonio Brown is worth the price every week, he's going to have at least 5/50, with the potential for a huge game each week.
Title: Re: Fanduel Thread
Post by: rjs246 on December 24, 2014, 12:59:32 PM
I'm only doing two lineups this week. Each is going into a $25 50/50 and the $600k.

Lineup 1:
Rodgers, L. Murray, Ingram, M. Wilson, Benjamin, J. Jones, Fleener, Graham, SF

Lineup 2:
Romo, L. Bell, Stewart, M. Wilson, M. Evans, R. White,  Fleener, Graham, MIA

I'm not really crazy about either lineup, but they're well-rounded which is all I'm looking for this week.
Title: Re: Fanduel Thread
Post by: PhillyPhreak54 on December 24, 2014, 01:09:21 PM
You think they will play Romo all game?

Latavius Murray is one that I want to fit in on one of mine. I have 7 lineups so I will get him in somewhere.

Title: Re: Fanduel Thread
Post by: rjs246 on December 24, 2014, 01:18:13 PM
What I think is that they will light up the taterskins secondary and the game that will determine whether they get a bye doesn't start until 4:25. So there's motivation to play for real. If it's looking like that won't happen I'll just swap in Matt Ryan who will definitely be playing the whole game.
Title: Re: Fanduel Thread
Post by: rjs246 on December 24, 2014, 01:20:19 PM
Also, the Latavius Murray/Jonathan Stewart combo is inexpensive and opens up some possibilities so I may throw together another $5 lineup if I start feeling squirrelly.

I have Terrance Williams in one lineup hoping that they'll go his way again since Washington will be anti-Billy Davis and double Dez.

Matt Ryan
Jeremy Hill
Jonathan Stewart
Julio Jones
Odell Beckham
Terrence Williams
Luke Willson (hopefully he goes off again)
Justin Tucker
San Fran (may switch over to ATL and use the $300 to upgrade at TE)

That's a lineup that swings for the fences, no doubt. I would prefer Beasley to Williams at this point but would basically avoid that decision entirely if possible. Jones and ODB in the same lineup is rather boner inducing though.

Yeah I may switch them out...we have time to tinker. Not sure if you do this too -- but sometimes I go fiddle around with it and end up out smarting myself with too many revisions.

Decided against cashing out...put a few lineups in

Eli
CJ Anderson
J Hill
Beckham
D Jaccson
Paul Richsrdson
Julius Thomas
Phil Dawson
Tampa d

Couple other lineups with Peyton. He's played bad recently but they're at home in a game that means something against a bad team. I can see him being overlooked in a lineups because of how bad he played last week.

I'm a little weary of Latavius this week because Denver could crush them and make him an afterthought in the run game. He catches some passes but no idea how much he'll be involved if they go down early.

But now i'm toying with the idea of taking out C.J. Anderson and putting in Matt Asiata against Chicago, and using the extra money to put another stud WR in my lineup instead of Moncrief. Really can't choose which cheap RB to go with between Stewart, Asiata, Herron...farg.

Odell Beckham in a lot at WR

Also used Richardson, Albert Wilson, Malcolm Floyd and Rueben Randle as cheap WRs

shtein, that fumble just killed me. Needed a Bengals FG to tie it up and have Ben throwing to Brown on a 2 minute drill. Only a couple hundred people out of the money though, which would be just one decent sized completion to Brown.

I try to avoid putting two RB/WR from the same team in a lineup. Always feel it's unlikely to have two players on the same team go off. Needed a low priced RB for a few lineups so I threw Josh Harris in there instead of Archer. Went heavy on A. Brown, J. Hill, and Olsen. Really mixed it up good overall though.
Title: Re: Fanduel Thread
Post by: Munson on January 03, 2015, 03:31:23 PM
I went with Gio over Hill mostly because Gio gets a ton of targets and may get a few more with A.J. Green. Both of them should produce.

I don't usually go with two WRs on the same team, but it was the only way I could get a lineup I liked. I'm also heavy on Olsen and the Carolina D.

Dan Herron disappearing really hurt me in the 2 million jaun. Even with Blount's performance, I just haven't been able to make up enough ground. Also got 0 from Moncrief at the moment, and only 7 total between the SEA D and Hauschka.

In the 600K, I'm currently at $20 with my only Colt being Nicks. So basically, need the Pats to pull some defensive starters and I need Nicks and Moncrief to collect me some garbage time points to help out in one or the other league.

I deposited $50 to farg around with some MLB forgetting how hard it is to win in baseball leagues.

I'm winning $50 on a $25 entry right now just because of Nolan Arenado and I still have my entire lineup to play later so chances are I could make a nice little score. Some Blue Jay fan has 4 of the top 6 spots because he loaded up on Rockies.

So if Gallardo, Zunino, Utley, Lowrie, Byrd, Puig and Cuddyer make some noise I'll take the money and run.

Roller coaster ride...I was sitting at $1200 to $800 for awhile and then got passed up by people who played Luis farging Valbuena who hit two homers at Safeco.

Still grabbing a hundred on $2 is a nice ROI

A reminder how hard and demoralizing it can be to play baseball on FanDuel

I did two $5 entries into their $125k contest and for a solid 20min I was in 1st place - showing $10k next to my name. I had a decent lead over 2nd place and then it started to fluctuate and I'd bounce between 10th and 1st and then settled into 8th for about an hour ($750 win).

Ended up cashing $45

I've spent all summer playing fanduel baseball only when they send me an email with a freeroll or a chance to get lots of points/cash back for participating. I hadn't won dick until this week, but I've racked up enough points to get some free entries once football season rolls around.

Beating the system.

Came in 8th out of 500+ in one of last night's $2 squeezes. Seems like that should result in more than $20, but it didn't.

It's disheartening to see you're so close to the big money and only win $20

Title: Re: Fanduel Thread

I put in 5 lineups but only one with Bradford. I used Tyrod Taylor in a few lineups so I could stack at other spots.

There are so many low-cost WRs with massive upside in week 1 that I think I can avoid skimping at QB. Davante Adams all up in this bitch.
Title: Re: Fanduel Thread

Everyone in the world is using Adams, I put him in exactly one lineup.

I have a QB/WR stack nobody is going to use (I hope). They've had great chemistry all preseason and might take a team by surprise week 1.

Smith/Maclin

I watched them a lot this preseason. Great chemistry. Smith has a noodle arm but Maclin excels in those medium routes. In fact he might be the best medium route runner in the league. Smith is money on those throws. Defenses are going to key in on Charles. If I'm wrong it's $5. But nobody is going to run that combo out there because Smith is a joke of a QB so I figured what the hell.

This is the lineup I'm putting into the $5 million tourney...been shifting it around all week, going to fight temptation to shift it around some more before 1

Bradford
Lacy
Hill
D. Adams
Agholor
Dez
Martellus
Nugent
MIA
Title: Re: Fanduel Thread
Post by: PhillyPhreak54 on September 13, 2015, 11:26:28 AM
I've got seven lineups going today. One in the $5M contest

Bradford
Murray
Lacy
Agholor
Matthews
Beckham
Eifert
Gano
Miami

On a side note - despite the annoying abundance of ads for FD and DK both have tons of entries available. Both sites are going to be on the hook for serious money since all seats haven't been filled.

I think people are staying away because they can never win. The "pro" players are the ones who always win the big pots.

Title: Re: Fanduel Thread
Post by: Munson on September 13, 2015, 11:31:32 AM
farg I like your lineup. I was mulling over a way to get Matthews into my lineup too but in the end realized I'd have to sacrifice Bennett for Eifert to do so, not to mention remove Devante Adams. I like Bennett this week and this season after leading the NFL in catches for a TE last year.

Read a story the other day about how the "pro"s use algorithms and shtein to enter thousands of lineups every day/week.

Though it did seem to indicate that many of them make their money in finding fish to play heads up. I gotta believe winning the big tourny's is a little harder to do because of how many different people and lineups are entered.
Title: Re: Fanduel Thread

Not sure if FD is doing it yet but DK allowed pros and nerds to run code to help auto pick and submit lineups. This allows them to get more entries.

When I was doing the baseball i would see the same 5-10 players winning every night.

Yep he just scored again. I'm lovin the spot I'm sitting in right now in the $5m contest. I have my QB and all three WRs and one RB still left to go and I'm sitting at 69 points.

So if OBJ and the Eagles (Bradford, Matthews, Agholor, and Murray) go off then I'll cash

The other line up with Alex Smith, Maclin, Hopkins, Charles and Kelce has 111 with Agholor, Murray and Minny D to go

I obviously think that the Eagles will put up a lot of points this week, but I also almost put a lineup together that was all-in on Minny because I think the Niners are going to be a disaster (plus I believe in Bridgewater and AP with a year of rest sounds terrifying). Ultimately I couldn't pull the trigger since they're playing at home and might maybe still remember how to play defense a little. Maybe? Anyway, I'm banking on the SF offense being straight garbage.

30 pts. from winning $25k

Best lineup:
Tyrod Taylor
Bennie Cunningham
Eddie Lacy
Deandre Hopkins
Julio Jones
Dez
Jimmy Graham
Mcmanus
Jets D

162 pts.

I deposited $25 week 1 last season and have been playing with house money ever since. So fanduel has been free for me for a while now. As long as I keep winning I'm staying with fd. If my account balance reaches $0 I'm heading on over to Draftkings. Might as well take advantage of the $200 match like I did when I first started with fd.

As for the whole gambling thing - oh yeah that is just what we need. Ban it! Gambling is awful!

What a load of shtein. They should make it legal across the board.

Also - the farging incessant commercials are overkill. Everything is either sponsored by DK/FD or they run the same farging commercials time after time. I hope those dudes featured in there that won money go broke and end up living on the street. farg off!

I lost $9, still up for the year

FD posted some guys lineup, supposedly it was his first lineup ever and he won the Sunday million. The lineup was ridiculous...who would pick Travis Benjamin, Larry Fitz and Dion Lewis and leave money on the table with other players? A bunch of people in the comments section were bashing FD for putting ringers in. I've noticed before when I was up and winning other people would leap frog me out of nowhere.

Also, not sure how the rules work with DFS but it's not regulated like gambling or the lottery so who says them putting ringers in is even illegal? Shady sure but people with money rarely play by the rules so why should they be any different?

anything run by a computer like that is shady as hell....they know what they are doing...who knows how many of the contestants are fake accounts used to push people out of or into the money to try and either avopid big payouts or to give people a little taste so they keep coming back...not totally different from slot machines

the only way it could truly be on the up and up is if you got paid by how many pts your team scored...when it goes by what place you come in then its suspect

It would not shock me if they used ringers.

However I know that the people winning the baseball contests are legit. The big tourney's I have entered in MLB are won by mainly the same dudes...and they are "pro's". They post, sometimes, on the rotogrinders forums and have twitter with pics of them at the FD events.

I didn't win shtein this week but I didn't do any research either..I was out of town Thursday-Sunday.

i think i'm gonna go with a cardinals stack this week.  palmer, david johnson, and john brown are my stack.  i think johnson will get a bulk of the carries and i think john brown has a good game after fitz's 3 td game last week.  good thing about those guys is they are all cheap so if i use woodhead as my other RB i can fill my other two wr spots with antonio brown and julio jones.  eifert is my te.  i feel pretty good about that lineup.

i tried a seahawks stack since they are playing the bears but after wilson and lynch who do use as the wr... doesn't give me warm and fuzzies.

one $25 entry and five $5 entries

The Pats were heavily used like with you guys' lineups...that Brady/Amendola/Lewis/Gronk is appealing because you know damn well Belichick wants to kill Indy 57-10

If it happens...then we should make some money.

Lower end receivers that I used are Jericho Cotchery for $4600, Marvin Jones at $5300, Marquess Wilson at $5400 and Josh Huff at $5300.

I have Giovani Bernard in two lineups and Chris Ivory in two as well.

Anything where you put money out on a game is gambling. Be it poker, casino games, fantasy football, DFS...

To me it's more about regulation and consumer protection, but whatever. Pretending that it isn't gambling is ridiculous.

It definitely needs to be regulated because there's a 100% chance they've pulled some shady shtein. Plus it's a multi billion industry. The problem as I understand it is if they put it in the same category as gambling it won't be available in all 50 states.

Serious question.  If you want to label this as gambling then why not the stock market?  Basically the same concepts.

the difference is the stock market has been proven over time to be a super safe place to put your money...there is little risk there

where as lotteries and casinos and daily fantasy and the like give the hope of millions but pay out very little to the average customer....its a racket

The stock market is amazingly risky if you play it one day at a time. In fact there is almost no difference between one day fantasy and day-trading stocks.

Investing for the long term is significantly different than day-trading and carries little risk, but the comparison makes a lot of sense for people who try to pick stocks to trade on day to day basis.

And day trading is perfectly legal and not considered gambling, correct?

"considered gambling" is not the important part here...thats just language people are trying to use to avoid regulation....the regulatory aspect of this is whats important and currently there is none for daily fantasy where as there is tons for wall street

I'm fine with regulating it, I'm just trying to figure out why so many people are in a rush to call it gambling and have it banned when there is a perfectly comparable stock trading tactic that has been around forever and is not considered gambling or under scrutiny.

I don't think anyone wants it banned...at least i haven't heard much if any of that

and the stock market has an incredible amount of regulation...too much for some not enough for others but to say it isn't under scrutiny or compare it to something like daily fantasy which has zero regulation is just not accurate

Yeah that's why they don't give a farg about and actually promote lotteries...because they get caked off. I bet if the states lost that lottery revenue they'd be up the creek and have to cut something out of the budget. Maybe instead of 1980s text books they kids would have to use some 50-60s antiques.

I am all for regulation though. They have pulled shady shtein and that (and the never ending commercials and ads and segments) tweet where the DK dude mentioned he had access to the ownership percentages is what started all this. He's the one who won $350k+ on FanDuel

So apparently last month or in June the Delaware DOJ issued a ruling making this shtein outlawed in the state. The House had a bill to label it a "game of skill" so it would be legal, but it got shelved before the summer session ended and they went on break.

Did my civic duty like a good little citizen and wrote my state rep and senator.

What does everyone think of the changes FanDuel made? Think they're legit with keeping shtein "fair"?
