Douglas knows him so that's good

Plus BAL signed Williams to a YUGE deal so they probably couldn't afford the both of them

Jernigan is a beast, perfect compliment to Cox. Logan was fine as a run stuffer but he couldn't shed blocks. Jernigan is the complete package. The only must sign FA guy in my opinion. I know they'd be wrapping a lot of money up in their D line but him and Cox are just dominant.
Title: Re: Timmy Jernigan, Former Seminole, Current Eagle
Post by: MDS on October 17, 2017, 10:40:36 AM
i think they can pay jernigan if they move on from curry. they owe curry 11 next year but if hes cut it goes to 6. jernigan would probably cost, maybe 8? so thats how you can make it work. \\

but this all moot since they need to bring back and long term the greatest defensive tackle of all time, bennie logan and especially his twitter handle.
Title: Re: Timmy Jernigan, Former Seminole, Current Eagle
Post by: ice grillin you on October 17, 2017, 10:42:49 AM
id also rather have jernigan but logan actually has better numbers and has graded out higher this year....because of this they are not resigning jernigan...like you said too much money into one position and they are going to feel like they can just go out and get another one year guy on the cheap this year...especially since they watched bennie only be able to cop a 1 year deal this past offseason
Title: Re: Timmy Jernigan, Former Seminole, Current Eagle
Post by: ice grillin you on October 17, 2017, 10:59:59 AM
while i still dont believe the economics will work there is one caveat....jernigan is a huge joe douglas guy and that cant hurt...maybe a hometown discount gets it done?

Yup^^^^

The Ravens got what they could for him because they knew they weren't going to re-sign him. He's not going to make Cox money but he's going to get paid.

thats what everyone said about bennie and he got one year for 8 million...jernigan probably isnt going to do that but no one is opening the vault for him

after so many 1 year deals for good players last year i think its possible they could get him on fair for both sides deal....but even if he loves it here and is comfortable with joe douglas and would accept a slightly under market deal imo it would still be too much for the eagles put into that position...you can slide pretty much anyone next to fletcher and they are going to play above their value...shtein he makes beau allen look competent...so to put significant money into DT2 is kinda silly and not something i can see them doing

Here's another example of why you should just stop spewing words out of your mouth.  You have no idea how stupid you are.  Beau Allen was more than competent when Fletcher Cox was not next to him.  But you are too stupid to acknowledge that.  Oh well. I guess that's why everybody except a few on here just choose to ignore what you say.

There's no reason to be down on Beau Allen.  He's far exceeded any reasonable expectation you might have had for him.  Great value for the pick/salary, and a well liked character.

What's not to like, other than he's white?

Signed to a 4 year extension

4 year $48 million $26 million guarantee

Favor of re-signing him, the D line is freaking stacked, but they paid a premium.

They need to allot money for O line and WR next season. I wouldn't mind having Jeffery back but not for what he's asking. If he didn't get that last season I can't see him getting that this season but who knows. I'm assuming they'll spend their 1st round pick on an O lineman.

i didnt think theyd do it witht he mitigating factor that hes a huge douglas guy....i guess he carries quite a bit of weight in the football offices (as he should)

if you are gonna re up heads like this better do it now while wentz is still on his rookie deal

Glad to see him locked up but Howie overpaid (depending on the actual numbers and if they have a 2nd year out). Now they need to save up for a new long snapper. It's clear that their blueprint is a franchise QB and top D line but I think they are going overboard.
Title: Re: Timmy Jernigan, Former Seminole, Current Eagle
Post by: SD on November 09, 2017, 04:56:12 PM
I'm not a cap guru, but I have a basic understanding of how it works, guaranteed money, dead money etc. I figured they'd sit the FA period out aside from signing someone like Torrey Smith. They signed, Jeffery, Smith, Long, Warmack, Blount etc. I'm done doubting Howie and how he handles the cap.
Title: Re: Timmy Jernigan, Former Seminole, Current Eagle
Post by: QB Eagles on November 09, 2017, 05:51:06 PM
Not always the biggest Howie fan but I trust him with the cap. Only area I question him is talent evaluation. I think Jernigan has the talent, so I'm glad this got done and figure that Howie isn't putting the team into the poorhouse.

i think part of this is they arent going to paying cb anything for the duration of the jernigan deal. jones, darby, mills, douglas all on rookie deals. wentz too. you have a window here and you can theoretically overpay for the dl.

at this point i dont see them re upping both bradham and hicks. not sure they can afford both. so long as schwartz is the dc id pay bradham. hicks cant stay on the field.

i thought about this yesterday. here are the potential coach openings

giants - would they hire the eagles dc? i think not.
packers - not hiring discarded lions trash
bears - not hiring discarded lions trash
bucs - fixing jemeis is the priority. offensive guy needed.
jets - if they fire bowles theyre stupid, but its the jets. possibility.
browns - schwartz has 1 more shot to be a coach and he wants it to be here, with this horrible franchise?
bengals - schwartz has 1 more shot to be a coach and he wants it to be here, with this horrible franchise?
colts - possibility though id guess they go offense because of luck.

we'll see.

Oakland was almost a surefire Super Bowl team last year until Carr got his pin busted up and they've really regressed this year.

Plus Del Rio really is a zesty coach despite last year.   His tenure in Jacksonville is a perfect example of mediocrity.

And I can't think of a more ideal team for a guy like Schwartz to coach than the Raiders.

Agreed that it probably wouldn't happen because of the money, but you never know.

Eagles' Timmy Jernigan: Undergoes surgery for herniated disc (https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/football/news/eagles-timmy-jernigan-undergoes-surgery-for-herniated-disc/)

QuoteJernigan recently underwent surgery for a herniated disc and is expected to miss spring workouts, NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

After three years in Baltimore, Jernigan spent last season in Philadelphia, finishing the 2018 campaign with 33 total tackles, nine tackles for a loss and 2.5 sacks. However, he's since been dealing with a herniated disc, which resulted in a recent surgery. While it will keep Jernigan out for spring workouts, there doesn't appear to be a huge concern over his availability for training camp, so look for him to make a full recovery by that point. Until he's back in the fold, recent acquisition Haloti Ngata should help fill in next to Fletcher Cox.

Now they are saying he's going to miss Week 1 and might be on the PUP list, and that the injury nearly got him released. It also cost him millions of dollars and converted his remaining contract years into options.
